hosted by: Ghouls & Girlies
description: Join “Ghouls and Girlies” for our September group discussion topic. Our event is for women, trans persons, & gender queer. We will examine “superstitions” this month. Please research a “superstition topic” and come share it with us! Examples of this are beliefs you may already know from your culture or upbringing, the science/psychology of superstitions, superstitions beheld by your favorite pop culture or historical figures, the origin stories of common everyday life superstitions, and technology/modern-related superstitions. I am sure there are many more ideas out there! Previously, in another meeting, we discussed folklore; this topic of “superstitions” is beliefs or actions/rituals that people follow or avoid to bring good luck or prevent catastrophes. (((Here is a bio of who we are: Are you a girlie obsessed with ghosts, aliens, true crime, cryptids, and anything else eerie or spooky? Do you crave new like-minded friends to accompany you in a deep dive into your favorite creepy topics and share the cozy, warm feeling of a terrifying horror film? Our group meets every first Thursday of the month from 7-9pm at a city proper establishment to discuss topics like a true crime podcast or documentary, a trilogy of horror movies, a gothic fiction novel title, personal experiences and beliefs about spirits, historical sightings of Mothman or the Loch Ness Monster, etc. We also at times organize some extra events, like going to the movies, listening to a live lecture expert, or going on haunted tours. Our group began on MeetUp in Oct. 2023 and is now instead moving to other platforms. [We are LGBTQ-inclusive. We welcome anyone female/femme/trans/non-binary of age 21+. We are disability-inclusive]. Please feel free to ask me, your host Jen, of any questions))).
